We've identified a sign-in issue that affects a small number of users on Samsung phones and
tablets when signing in to GFT Pay with their Google account. If you're using a Samsung device
and you tap Continue with Google and see a Google error page that says "The server cannot
process the request because it is malformed," or if the sign-in screen closes without logging
you in, the steps below will get you in.
First, try this:
Sign in to your Google account directly, then come back.
1. Open the Chrome app on your Samsung device.
2. Go to gmail.com.
3. Sign in to the Google account you want to use with GFT Pay.
4. Once you see your Gmail inbox, switch back to GFT Pay.
5. Tap Continue with Google again. It should sign you in successfully this time.
If that doesn't work:
Just try again. Tap Continue with Google a second time. The retry usually completes the sign-in.
Prefer not to bother?
You can sign in with your Apple ID instead. Tap Continue with Apple on the sign-in screen — this
works the same way and gives you full access to GFT Pay. Sign in with Apple is unaffected by
this issue.
Why does this happen?
This is a known interaction between Google's sign-in flow and the way Chrome on some Samsung
devices manages account information. It is not specific to GFT Pay — Google's own sign-in screen
is what returns the error. Signing into Gmail first refreshes the connection between Chrome and
your Google account, which clears the issue.
If you only ever see the error once and the next attempt works, you do not need to do anything
else.
Still having trouble?
If neither step above works, please submit a ticket and include:
- Your Samsung device model (e.g. Galaxy S24, Galaxy A54)
- The Android version (Settings → About phone → Software information)
- Which sign-in option you tried
- A screenshot of any error message you saw
We'll get you signed in.
